Every home and business in the UK has the right to connect up to 3.68 kW (AC) to the grid, without needing permission. For less than 3.68kW, you'll need to do a G98 notification, available here.
DNO's can take a long time to process G99 applications - below is a guide to the estimated timelines - it's best to apply as early as possible.
G99 fast track applications (residential systems up to 7.2kW per phase): 1-4 weeks. 7.2 kW - 16.66 kW per phase: 45 working days. 50 kW+ : 45 working days+
This service does not include charges or fees from the DNO - typically for applications above 50 kW or if upgrades to the local grid are required.
You would be given an option if charges are required, for example, you can connect 10 kW but it will cost £1600 or you can connect 6 kW and no upgrades are required.
